Phillip and Chelsea Alexander- September Couple of the Month
Phillip and I officially met for the first time through mutual friends in college, however, we did not start dating until several years later. We had our first date on October 22, 2013.
Phillip’s proposal was a complete surprise! Unlike most couples, we had not discussed a proposal. Although we both knew we loved each other, and wanted to spend our lives together, we never talked about the details of making that a reality. Not once had we ever discussed when a proposal might take place, and we had never looked at rings together, or mentioned possible wedding dates. This made everything even more special, knowing Phillip planned this proposal for weeks all on his own. He wanted to make sure I was surprised.
He chose the engagement ring himself from Morris Jewelry. He has since told me of how extremely kind and helpful all employees were with helping him choose the perfect ring for me.
Our proposal happened on a Thursday night, August 14, 2014. A friend of Phillip’s owned a plane at the time and Phillip arranged for him to take us flying. I did not think this was unusual since we are always looking for new and exciting ways to spend our date nights.
We took off from the Russellville airport. We flew around the local and surrounding counties, and the views were beautiful! The pilot asked if there was a place in particular we would like to see from the air. Phillip said he would like to see the church. (That response was completely normal considering Phillip works there.) As we were flying over, the plane dropped lower and tilted to the left. I saw a huge sign in the yard behind the church that read “Marry Me?“ I could also see people below waving and forming a heart around the sign. I turned to look at Phillip and he was holding a ring! A GORGEOUS ring. Once we landed, Phillip told me the “heart” around our “Marry Me” sign was made up of all our closest friends and family. Everyone was waiting for us back at the church to celebrate our engagement. Without a doubt, Phillip pulled off the most surprising, epic proposal ever!
We were married on June 6, 2015. We chose to have a destination wedding on Crystal Beach in Destin, FL. Our family and friends attended the ceremony and celebrated with us. We would like to thank Morris Jewelry for always being so kind and helpful through our journey.
